April 15 & 16
Prior to the Easter Break next weekend, the SSBA schedule has a number of exciting games lined up for this weekend at the Falcon Field in San Ignacio Town.
Friday Night
Game 1(U18) - Rising Stars and Golden Eagles are both fighting for the #2 seed in this division, as Rising Stars has a 2 -1 record, while Benque Eagles has a 1 - 2 record, with the winner taking sole control on the #2 seed. In their first encounter, Rising Stars narrowly edged Benque Eagles 37 - 34.
Game 3(Seniors) - In the clash of the titans, BNE Oilers(1 - 2) will be taking on Shell Bombers(2 - 2). Both teams desperately need this victory, in order to keep their playoff hopes alive, and also to establish themselves as a threat in the Senior division. A loss to any of these 2 teams will be a blow, paving the way for the other playoff contenders.
Saturday Night
Game 1(U21) - Belize Bank Bombers is coming off a huge win this past weekend, as they unexpectedly defeated the talented Hydro team. However, they will be going up against another team that is big in the paint, Belize Bank Bombers. Presently, these 2 teams, along with Hydro, are all locked into second place with 7 points, as all three teams have a 2 -1 record. The winner of this game takes sole control of the #2 seed, while the loser will be pushed to the #4 seed.
Game 2(Over 35) - Opening Night the newcomers, Mega Food, defeated the defending Over 35 Champs by 1 point. Mega Foods is presently tied for 1st place with 7 points, while Belmopan is tied for last place with 4 poitns. A victory for any team will soldify their position in the standings, as both teams are still struggling to obtain greater chemistry adn team play.
Game 3(Seniors) - The nightcap will be a thriller, as Christ for Life will be taking on one of 2 remaining undefeated teams in the Senior division, Hydro E-3. Christ for Life is entering this game with a lot of momentum and confidence, as they just defeated BNE Oilers last weekend in overtime. If Hydro E-3 pulls off the big W, they will be in good position for the #1 seed, while Christ for Life desperately needs this win to keep their playoffs hope alive. These 2 teams have won 3 of the 4 BECOL Championships, and thier rivarly is renewed each year as they square off as two of the more consistent teams in the tournament.
