In was another great weekend for junior footy across the Darling Downs with hundred's of boys and girls putting their all in round 3 of AFL Darling Downs Junior fixtures.
Under 12's
South Toowoomba were able to tame a hard finishing Highfields Lions outfit at Harristown Park as the Bombers held onto a narrow 6point victory. The win continues the Bombers undefeated season and keeps them one game clear on top the ladder going into Easter.
Full Forward Ryan Neumann slotted home 4 majors for the morning, while young stars Tyler Debney and Jesse Jones were able to sneak 1 goal a piece. While Goddard and N.Cherry were able to boot 2 goals for the Lions and Caleb Aitken chipped in with 1 major. Walters, Neumann, Carlsson and Myles were outstanding for the Bombers while Lions stars Sheath,Herridge and the Cherry brothers were fantastic all day.
In other results a dominant display by Brock Aston and Brendan Shelton helped reigning premiers Coolaroo post a 58 point victory over the Dalby Swans at Gold Park. East Toowoomba recorded a big win over the Redbacks at home while University took the 4 points against Lockyer Valley at Baker Street.
Under 14's
Goondiwindi recorded their second win of the season with a nail biting 2point win over the Pittsworth Power at Riddles Oval. The Hawks looked to have the game won at three quarter time by a big margin but the Power rallied at the final break and stormed home with a six goal to zero last term. Hawks powerful midfield of Hagiel, Naismith and Bate proved to strong for their counterparts in Cameron Smith, Brodie Wagland and Thomas Patterson of Pittsworth.
This win lifts the Hawks to tied 3rd with Easts, University and Coolaroo, while a much improved Pittsworth sit winless along with Highfields and the Lockyer Valley.
The Swans turned the table in the 14's recording a 31point victory at Gold Park over the Roo's while a Will Krause led Bombers held onto a 17 point victory over the Lions at Harristown. The Warwick Redbacks were no match for the hard running East Stingers and University proved to good for the Demons at Baker Street.
Under 16's
The young Cougars roared to a commanding 10 goal win over the Lockyer Valley Demons on Saturday afternoon. A much improved Lockyer Valley Demons led by Bernal, Guymer-Rogers and Carpenter couldn't match it with the class of Parker, Huggins and Wood. The Demons seemed to run out of legs as the Uni Cougars notched up their first win of 2011.
The Demons will look to kick start their 2011 season with a win over South Toowoomba next week, who will be missing their play makers who will be away with representative duties, while Uni will look to build on their win over the Demons by defeating the Roo's at Baker Street.
In other results East Toowoomba defeated the Warwick Redbacks and reigning premiers the Dalby Swans were too good for Coolaroo at Gold Park.
