Going into their second season in the Allied Pickfords premiership season, the Highfields Lions have stated that they are a force to reckon with, after taking out the 2011 Preseason Cup. The young running Lions roared to a 4.4 (28) to 3.0 (18) win over last years preliminary finalists the University Cougars in the decider.
It was the Cougars that went through the day undefeated but the highlight of the day went to the Lockyer Valley Demons who recorded their first ever win as a football club defeating 2010 grand-finalists South Toowoomba Bombers 4.4 (28) to 3.1 (19). Though the Bombers were undermanned and played most of the day with only 14 players, the Demons played an impressive attacking style of football that got them over the line.
