The Brisbane Lions will spend two days in Toowoomba on February 10 and 11 (Thursday and Friday next week) as part of the 2011 Telstra AFL Community Camp.
The Community Camps have become a popular tradition leading into the NAB Cup as clubs visit communities throughout Australia to participate in a variety of activities.
All Lions players and coaches will head north to participate in the following community activities:
Thursday 10 February
1.30pm - ‘Best Banners’ competition judging
3.30pm - Super Clinic and autograph signing session
6.45pm - Coaching master class session
7.45pm - Sportsman’s dinner
Friday 11 February
9.00am - High school visits
12.30pm - Umpire Toowoomba/Pittsworth Primary School football
3.00pm - Depart
Lions Senior Coach Michael Voss said that the camps were a great community initiative by the AFL.
“The Community Camps allow us the opportunity to visit fans in regional areas so they can meet the players up close as they prepare for the start of the season,” Voss said.
“The destruction and tragedy that Toowoomba and the surrounding areas have seen recently with the floods has made us even more keen to get there and do our bit to help in the community.”
“The impact of the floods has really touched us all, so we are more than happy to do anything we can.”
