Marks A Portland Blazzer
New Zealand's Sean Marks will see out the National Basketball Association (NBA) season with the Portland Trail Blazers and pocket the sizeable cheque that comes with it.
Marks was in the lineup during the Blazers' 103-100 win at Houston on Friday and, although he did not play, his presence on the bench means the remainder of his veterans' minimum contract will be guaranteed. Wednesday was the final day on which teams in the league could begin the formal process of waiving a player with a non-guaranteed contract.
Marks, whose main role is as an extra big body in practice while providing Portland some solid court time when other forwards/centres have been injured, is now guaranteed the veteran's minimum pay of $US698,880 ($NZ919,820) for the final 46 games of the season.
The 35-year-old signed with the Blazers on November 6. He has appeared in 21 games and is averaging 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 8.2 minutes.
The Trail Blazers are the sixth team he has played for in a 12-year
