Dynasty Cheerleading & Dance first clinic

Dynasty Cheerleading & Dance on January 5th this new year at the Lizzy Sport Complex held its first clinic to prepare towards the official commencement of the Dynasty Cheerleading & Dance programme in some few months. Dynasty had the previlage of hosting Kat Cammack who is the captain of the Metro State University Cheer & Dance team in Denver Colarado and also is the president of Alpine Leadership International.

The main aim of the clinic was to attract and introduce girls who are interested in working with the Dynasty Cheerleading & Dance programme as coaches. Cheerleading & Dance is new in Ghana hence to make great impact will mean having a team of coaches to teach the many interested young girls out there. The clinic did not have a large turnout due to the holiday season and low advertisement but ended up successful as the main objective was met. Before the clinic started some clinic staff and participants had the previlage of meeting FIFA Wolrdcup winner and football star and legend Marcel Desailly who is also the founder and owner of the Lizzy Sport Complex as he came down from his office to say hi and see how preparations were going.

The history making clinic started at 10:50am with coach Kat Cammack taking participants through the fundamentals of Cheerleading & Dance which included flexibility, motions, jumps, cheers, stunting, routines and stepping. The most interesting part was the stunting which was the hardest of them all. The basketball coaches of Dynasty Basketball were the base with the strongest coach as the backspot which is a very important position in stunting. The stunting session saw the partipating girls fly for the first time. All the girls looked shaking by their first experience but didn't hesitate to get back up in the air. The clinic was climaxed with Kat Cammack performing some great cheerleading dance routines. The clinic will be followed up with once a month Cheerleading & Dance Clinics which will commence in some few months. Some plans lined up is to build up a number of cheerleading squads in schools who will cheer and dance during half times of their school's sports events and games, through which Dynasty will be putting together a cheer & dance squad to cheer and perform during Dynasty Basketball games and events. Several college scholarships are available for cheerleaders in US colleges and hopefully in the nearest future we should see young girls from Ghana earn scholarships to further their education and cheerleading in the USA. The Dynasty Cheerleading & Dance one day clinic on the 5th of January 2011 was proudly supported by Alpine Leadership International (USA) & Lizzy Sports Complex located in East-Legon near A&C shopping mall and powered by Dynasty Basketball Association(DBA).
