JUNIOR BASKETBALL JAMBOREE

Three of Mount Gambier’s talented junior basketballers, Lachlan Hunter, Zach deWit and Caleb Perry enjoyed the wonderful experience of the Great River Murray Jamboree in Albury last week. The Jamboree is a four day Live-In Basketball Camp involving Under 13 players from country areas of several states of Australia as well as New Zealand.

Teams comprising players from all participating states are chosen and coaches allocated. These teams then stay together for the duration of the Camp and off court social activities.

The program includes extensive fundamental skills sessions, introduction to team strategies and plays and then a series of games when the players are encouraged to use the skills and strategies learnt in game situations.

The three Lakers boys thoroughly enjoyed the Camp and consider it to be the highlight of their year. They all agreed that it was fun, that they made new friends and thought that they learnt a lot under completely different coaches.

Basketball Mount Gambier acknowledges the benefits of the Jamboree and actively encourages players to participate in this November event each year.
