AFL Queensland Darling Downs will introduce three new staff members to the team in 2011, with three local juniors signing on as AFL SportsReady trainees. Dale Carlish (Coolaroo), Tasman Myles (South Bombers) and Troy Rissman (Toowoomba Crows) will commence their Certificate 2, in Community Sport and Recreation as of November 2010 but will officially commence their role with AFL Queensland in January 2011.
The regions current Development Officer, Jeff Neumann came through the same process, after completing a number of qualifications through the traineeship program. "The traineeship takes the boys through the basics from Workplace OHS right through to the ins and outs of organising a competition. The boys will learn a great deal from their studies and you just never know, one of these boys could be the next Development Officer or CEO of AFL Queensland, "Jeffro said.
All three boys come from strong Australian Rules Football backgrounds and all have recently represented the Darling Downs Region at a number of representative championships.
Dale currently attends Centenary Heights State High School and will be studying Year 12 next year while undertaking the traineeship. In 2010 Dale played for the Coolaroo Under 16’s and also played a handful of ‘A’ Grade matches during the season. Dale has represented the Darling Downs Demons at both Under 14 and Under 16 level and has been amongst the leadership groups in those sides.
Tasman, also better known as Tassie, currently plays for the South Toowoomba Bombers under 16’s and much like Dale played a handful of senior games in season 2010. Tassie in 2010, represented the Darling Downs at Under 16 and Under 15 level. Tassie has been representing the Darling Downs since he was a bottom age Under 14 player and will continue to do so, for many years to come. While undertaking the traineeship Tasman will be studying hard as a Year 11 student at Centenary Heights State High School.
Troy Rissman is the footy mad one of the trio, everyone might remember back a few years ago when Troy was running around as his idol as an 11 year old AKA for Coolaroo. Troy will undertake the AFL SportsReady traineeship while studying year 11 at Toowoomba State High’s Wilsonton Campus. Troy will hopefully be lining up for the Toowoomba Crows next season, after a year at the Sherwood Magpies.
All three of the young men are exceptional footballers and will bring their own bit of flair to the AFL office. All three will be in action as of January next year and will play an important part to the Development of Australian Rules Football on the Darling Downs.
