Petrie loss leaves hole in Blaze roster

GOLD Coast Blaze coach Joey Wright will be rethinking his roster after losing forward Anthony Petrie -- perhaps for the rest of the season -- to a ruptured Achilles tendon last night.

Petrie went down in the third quarter of the game that saw the Blaze come back from a slow start to put away the Cairns Taipans, 92-81, at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Wright left no doubt the the loss of Petrie would leave a huge hole in his squad, adding he would have a busy weekend on the phone trying to find potential replacements, with Pero Vasiljevic and import James Maye also facing long stints on the sidelines.

But he said with Mark Worthington, again the star last night with 21 points, there was hope. READ ON
