Renee Tong a
second year player with the Central Blues Women's team is attending
Victoria University this semester and has had the opportunity to
continue her football education as a player on the VU women's team. Her
season culminated with a trip to Perth for the University Games where
the team won the tournament. Below are some of Renee's thoughts on the
experience.
"We
played 8 games in 5 days and it was awesome. We had one draw and lost
one game, but won all the rest. We ended up winning the gold
medal! Yay! As usual, I did something stupid in one of the games, I
kicked the wrong way again haha. I need to stop doing that. Some of
the girls at the games and on my team are really good players, it was
great getting a chance to experience a different level of the game. The
Blues trainings were way tougher and better though. I am so pumped to
come back to the Blues in Jan and get back into it. Even though they
are more skilled, the Aussies still definitely have some of the same
problems with covering their man and not crowding the ball. Probably
just a girl thing. "
The Blues are proud of Renee's accomplishments and look forward to her safe return in the New Year.
