RESCO HOLIDAY CAMP A GREAT SUCCESS

Maitland Basketball held is annual Spring School holiday camp on the 29th & 30th September. Thanks to ResCo and NAHYDT, the camp was once again a great success.

ResCo & NAHYDT provided the entire camp participants, some 150 children with their own T Shirt, Water bottle and Basketballs. Scott McGregor, Maitland Basketballs development office inspired a number of new basketballers to attend the camp.

Day one was all about basketball development, Scott along with a number of ResCo development coaches assisted in the development of a player’s skills and knowledge of the game. Aspects of basketball can be taught in several ways and this camp exposed the attendees to elements considered important in a junior’s development. The camp had an emphasis on skill development, in particular shooting and individual skills. Team Offensive & Defensive concepts were also covered on Day one of the camp.

Day two was all about multi sports, Futsal, Hockey, volleyball and more basketball. All the children rotated through the different sports learning and using their abilities in different ways. Having spent the previous day working a lot on individual skill the multi sports was about being to be part of a team. Learning to pass, throw and communicate in a team environment which is a major part of the development process that needs attention at a junior level. Along with the different sports came different needs, speed, agility and balance was all part of this fun day.

Maitland Basketball would like to thanks ResCo and the NAHYDT for their continued support.

We would also like to thank all the participants and hope you enjoyed you two days and we look forward to holding this type of camp and many more in the December School holidays.
