Winter 2010 A Reserve Premiers

Men's A Reserve Premiers - Bulldogs/Bullets
Women's A Reserve Premiers - Panthers

The Women’s A Reserve final produced the excitement of the night. A large number of vocal supporters added to the atmosphere of the low scoring contest. The defences of both sides were clearly on top as baskets were hard to gain.

The lead changed hands many times and with just a few minutes left Cougars had a narrow lead. Panthers however came back and snared a one point lead, 29-28. Brianna Walters went to line in the dying seconds to extend the final score-line to 30-28.

Ashlee Earl of Cougars top scored with 10 points. Panthers were best served by Alycia Close with 9 and Brianna Walters with 8.

Ashlee Earl was judged best on court in the grand final.

Dedicated Cougars guard Maddi Wilson won the season Most Valuable Player. She recorded 16 votes. Runner-up was Chantelle Weir of Roos on 15 followed by Brianna Walters of Panthers on 14.

The talented Bulldogs Bullets easily accounted for Bulldogs in the Men’s A Reserve grand final. The 54-37 win was set up in the first half when Josh Nobes, Kane Ransom and Nick Pearce were prominent. Matt Berkefeld provided Bulldogs with smart transition and consistent scoring avenues throughout the season. His injury seriously restricted his impact on the game. Bullets’ Josh Nobes scored a game high 16 points and was named best on court. Nick Pearce had 11 and Kane Ransom 8. Berkefeld (12), Ben Braithwaite and Jake Harrap each on 9, were the main scorers for Bulldogs.

Matt Berkefeld polled 27 votes to win the 2010 Winter season Most Valuable Player Award. Ben Tremelling of Cougars was runner-up with a total of 16.

Nominations are now being called for the 2010/11 Summer Season which will commence in the week beginning October 11th.
