Pax Hill Under 10 :
Team Effort
MATCH REPORT:
This game was played in very windy conditions, favouring the east
end of the ground, which Pax Hill were kicking to in the first
quarter. Pax Hill had most of the play in this quarter, and got
their first goal through Nathan Berry, but only managed another
4 behinds for the quarter to lead by 8 points at the first change.
Within the first minute of the second quarter, Nick Lowden had
posted Combined Saints first goal. It wasn’t long before Justin
Hough kicked towards goal, and what looked like being a clear
point, the ball bounced sideways and through for a goal to give
Combined Saints the lead, and the lead was extended further with
goals to Nick Lowden and Beau White. The Pax Hill defence was
doing extremely well under pressure with Josh Galea, Judah Leak
and Brock Williams repelling many attacks. At half time, Pax Hill
trailed by 3 goals. The third quarter, Pax Hill found it hard to
penetrate Combined’s backline to score, kicking only one goal,
whereas Combined Saints through some great team work managed
to score two goals into the wind, leading 42 to 18 at the last
change. The Pax Hill Coach continued to encourage his kids with
positive reinforcement, but it was always going to be very
difficult to come back into the wind, with Combined Saints keeping
up the pressure and running out winners 12-10-82 to 2-6-18.
