SAPSASA Basketball National Championships.

Two of Mount Gambier’s best junior basketballers, Rachael Hines and Brad Rathjen, are playing very well in the SAPSASA Basketball National Championships being played in Darwin this week.

Hines, Captain of the Girls’ state team, is leading by example through her on court efforts. The team lost just one game to the powerful Victoria line up in the minor round games. They play tomorrow in the round robin medals play offs with Victoria and host state N.T. SA is guaranteed of a medal regardless of the results of the round robin. Nevertheless they are given a good chance of coming home with Gold, having defeated NT 52-33 on Monday and going down to Victoria by only 8 in their first game of the Championships.

Alex Walker of Millicent is also a member of this team.

The SA Boys won two of their minor round games, defeating ACT and NT. Today, Thursday, they are expected to defeat ACT in the playoff for fourth place.
