LAKERS DUO TO COMPETE IN SAPSASA BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Talented Mount Gambier junior basketballers, Rachael Hines and Brad Rathjen have been selected in the 2010 SA SAPSASA Basketball Teams to compete in the National Championships in Darwin from August 7th to 13th. This is an outstanding achievement for this duo because these state teams usually comprise metropolitan players. State Under 16 player Emily Stafford is the most recent junior Laker and Country player to represent SA at this level.

Hines and Rathjen have already made their mark as dominant players in domestic competitions and junior representative teams. They are very talented and set a fine example for their peers through their commitment to working hard to fully develop their undoubted natural athletic abilities.

Millicent’s Alex Walker joins Hines in the Girls’ State team.

The three players have been travelling to Adelaide every weekend for trainings over the past three months and will travel with the team to Darwin on Saturday.

All the mainland states will be represented and the strongest opposition is expected to come from Queensland and Victoria in the week long Championships.
