We should all be very proud of the efforts of our players, coaches and support staff at the 2010 Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival, which concluded last Sunday in Canberra, after three days of intense competition. Including support staff, the WorkSafe VCFL presented nearly 80 people with the opportunity to be involved at this great Carnival. All represented the WorkSafe VCFL and their Leagues, Clubs and communities in a most professional manner. As I am sure you are aware by now, our Victorian Major League Team convincingly won the Landmark Cup against South Australia in the Grand Final and in doing so, brought home their eighth title from the eleven Carnivals conducted since 1990. Congratulations to Coach Peter Knights, Captain Joe McLaren (Koroit FC; Hampden FNL), all the players and their support staff.
Whilst at the conclusion of the Carnival the Barooga Sports Club Victorian District State Team finished seventh on the ladder, they competed exceptionally well against formidable opposition. There were three highlights for the District Team; those being a five goal victory over NSW, a seven point loss to the powerful ACT Team and a fourteen point loss to our Victorian Major League Team. Well done to Ron Thomas, Captain Steve Shultz (Kalkee FC; Horsham DFL), all the players and their support team.
Following the completion of all finals, the teams headed back to the Ainslie Football Club for the presentation ceremony, where Victorian players where well to the fore in the selection of the 2010 All Australian Team. All up, ten VCFL players were selected in the 22, with Peter Knights being named Coach of the Carnival.

Congratulations and thank you to all who had an involvement in this year’s Landmark Carnival, along with those who made the journey to Canberra to support our teams – it was great to see you there.
In closing, we again recognise Landmark for their outstanding support of another Carnival and to AFL Canberra for all their hard work in putting on a Carnival of the highest standard.
To see highlights of the Carnival tune into WIN TV on Sunday morning during the Sunday Footy Show that starts at 11am, and for full details of all games at the Carnival go to www.acfc.com.au or www.vcfl.com.au.
That completes a big year of representative football for the WorkSafe VCFL and I would like to thank Brett Connell, WorkSafe VCFL Operations Manager for his management and coordination of all the programs in 2010 and all those that provided support and assistance from our VCFL staff.
Enjoy your football and netball this weekend.
Best Regards,
