Seymour are still in the hunt for the 2010 Premiership flag but the truth is it will take a mammoth effort for them to play in the finals let alone be premiers. The Lions host 2nd placed Shepp United this Saturday for the Round 14 game, then away to 7th placed Mansfield, home to 4th placed Echuca, away to 3rd placed Mooroopna and then home to Euroa in the last round on August 28th. The Lions are currently placed 9th on the ladder with 6 wins / 7 losses, the same as Mansfield and Tatura who are all on 24 points but all 4 points behind the Swans who hold 6th place on the ladder with the 4 points and significant higher percentage. No doubt the Lions will be taking these next few weeks very seriously but it seems Seymour are very much on the front foot and have certainly got things in place for the next few seasons. It was publicly announced in the Shepparton NEWS on Wednesday July 21st that the Lions have re-appointed the popular Bernie HABERMAN for another two years as Senior Coach. The Lions have also announced that the COLBERT boys Brent and Paul, along with Shane SCHOTTNER, Adam REID, Jeff ANDERSON and Tim O'KEEFE have all committed for next year as has premiership stars Matty O'KEEFE and Robbie INNES who will be back from overseas. It seems that Bernie has been given the full go ahead and very much encouraged by his wife Vanessa as he was concerned about his work load and the fact they live in Melbourne with their two year old daughter Ruby. Bernie is pretty flat out with his job as a masseuse with the Collingwood players on his list of clients, plus he has been studying full time to become a qualified chiropractor, the coaching at Seymour, Ruby and the masseuseing. Good on you Bernie and well done Lions.
