A BOOST FOR BASKETBALL JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

A BOOST FOR BASKETBALL JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.

Local junior basketballers have had a feast of Development Sessions over the past two weeks when two of the best coaches in Australian Basketball conducted training sessions at the stadium. They followed the four day visit of SA Country Development Officer, Peter Todd, who concentrated on school sessions.

Basketball SA Director of Coaching, Neil Gliddon ran a series of sessions for the local Under 14 Boys and Girls and 12 Boys’ squads and the Senior Talent Identification group.

Dean Kinsman, the first SA Country Development Officer and former Head Coach of the A.I.S. Women’s program and the Australian Junior Women’s team, remained in Mount Gambier after his role as Assistant Coach in the Pioneers/Sandringham SEABL game last Friday.

Kinsman worked with junior basketballers in Millicent and Mount Gambier during his four day visit. He also spent evenings with local coaches relating his role in the schools system in Victoria and with the Sandringham Basketball Club.

Mount Gambier Basketball Development Officer, Trevor Semmens was very pleased with the sessions and spoke of the benefits of having top level coaches such as Gliddon and Kinsman work with our local players.
