JEPARIT RAINBOW V WOOMELANG LASCELLES
The Lakers will be hoping for a continuation of with last week’s form when they easily accounted for the Roos at Underbool. This week they front the Cats at Jeparit and should be far too strong for a Woomelang Lascelles side that is still undermanned even though they welcome back three top players. One player the Cats will not have available is young Brodie Adcock who will miss this week’s game to play for the Victorian Country Schoolboy’s side in Melbourne next week. Well done Brodie and good luck.
Justin Chilver and Tim Price should be able to provide plenty of drive from the ruck for Laker onballers Ash Clugston and Corey Waldron. Jayden and Luke Werner having been creative with their run out of the backline and up forward Peter Weir will provide the main target, but Jeparit Rainbow have other forwards to look to in Brian Harrison and Ben Zanker who both showed improved form last week on their way back from injury.
Jeparit Rainbow have an ace up their sleeve with Adam Roll who can play forward or at centre half back depending upon the balance of the team and how the team is going against the Cats.
Amongst the players back for Woomelang Lascelles are speedy wingman Daen Murray, goal kicker Kade Schack and Jason Kreuger who should improve on last week’s effort, coming back after missing the previous five weeks with an ankle injury.
One player the Lakers will certainly miss is Simon Clugston who will be out for several weeks with a broken jaw and we all wish him a speedy recovery and a quick return.
The Woomelang Lascelles Cats are still boasting good numbers at training, and the atmosphere might be positive, but they will find it a tough battle against the improving Jeparit Rainbow.
HOPETOUN V SEA LAKE NANDALY TIGERS
This will be the game of the round as both sides have in-form, skilful ball getters and both sides need to win badly, not so much to arrest any poor form, but to gain an advantage over the other side on the MFL ladder. Hopetoun need the win to keep in touch with the four sides above them, Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers need to win to keep in touch with the top two sides.
The Tigers would have been disappointed to lose against Ouyen United last week, especially seeing that the match was at Berriwillock which has been a happy hunting ground for the Tigers for the last few years.
Hopetoun were very good last week in their one sided win against the Cats. It was an even performance and the Devils got better as the match progressed; they have brilliant in-form players Marcus Burdett, Clinton Burdett and Zack Taggert is getting better and better.
Hopetoun are going to need to shut down key Tiger onballers Col Durie and Darcy Ryan, full forward Nathan Wight matches up well against the Devils and Ryan Dowdy provides Sea Lake Nandaly with another marking forward option. The Tigers will be better for the run against Ouyen after the fortnight off and they will be looking to play a more consistent game after starting very slowly against Ouyen. This is the first of three vital games for Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers as they follow up against Jeparit Rainbow and Beulah. Their precision football around the field, their ability to find a target and with two high marking forwards they just might be too talented for Hopetoun who will be keen to increase their winning streak to three games.
BEULAH V WALPEUP UNDERBOOL
Coming off the bye, the Blues will need to work hard in the opening quarter of this match as they cannot afford to take the Roos lightly. This Walpeup Underbool side may not be winning, but they still boast a very talented lineup with players of the calibre of Kane Munro, Warrick Brady, Darren and Travis Latta. Jim Wakefield is playing well on the backline and they only need Matt Brown to get in amongst the goals, and if they start well, they could trouble Beulah.
The Blues will start favourites, and deservedly so as they are undefeated so far this season, they have had a week off and have some players in excellent form. Bradly and Clayton Shannon are amongst the best each week, Jarrod Combe is kicking goals they have a lot of players playing well all over the ground.
It would be a major upset if Walpeup Underbool won this match. Beulah won’t let this game slip through their fingers as they know that they are going to have to keep winning to keep ahead of the pack.
