Saturday’s games matched the boys up against Castlemaine Black and Hamilton. Both games resulted in good wins to the boys and a confidence boost for the team.
Storm 50pts defeated Castlemaine Black 12pts
Storm 39pts defeated Hamilton 35pts
On Sunday the boys were matched up against Phoenix 1 and Dandenong. Both games again resulted in good wins to the boys and placed them at the top of their pool, and into the Semi final against Ararat on the Monday.
Storm 53pts defeated Phoenix (1) 15pts
Storm 40pts defeated Dandenong 29pts.
Mondays Semi final was a one way affair with the boys continuing their great form and running away easy winners and setting up a grand final match with the winner of pool A, Werribee 2.
Storm 52pts defeated Ararat 19pts
The Grand Final was played at the Ballarat Minerdome. Both teams were evenly matched, though Werribee had superiority in the height department. However from the first jump the Storm boys got away to a good start with some fast breaks, slick passing and lay-ups. Some great re bounding at both ends by Mitch, Oscar, Michael and Tyler ensured Storm had greater possession of the basketball. This saw the boys go into the half time break with a handy lead of 7 points.
The second half of the final saw the boys turn up the heat further with Storm playing with intensity, putting pressure on the opposition players, causing easy turnovers and hurting Werribee on the score board. It was definitely the boys best all round game over the long weekend, with Storm running out comfortable winners by 16pts.
Grand Final: Storm 40pts defeated Werribee (2) 24 pts.
A great effort by all players and the coach Pat.
Best players over the weekend, Tyler, Seb, Kye, Mitch and Ben. MVP over the tournament for Storm was awarded to Mitchell Peers.
Overall it was a great weekend of basketball with some recreation in between, playing Ten Pin Bowling, Go Carting and plenty of visits to the Beechworth bakery.

The girls had a fantastic tournament & had a huge task going up against Castlemaine in the grand final. After beating them by a thrilling 1 point, in the opening game, both teams were really fired up for the rematch. The Storm girls started strong & despite a couple of Castlemaine 3 pointers, were well in it at 1/2 time - trailing 15 to 18. Castlemaine managed to break away in the second half, but our girls never give up & made them work hard to the end.
Grand Final: Castlemaine 38 defeated Bellarine 29.
Our girls did a great job - with only 7 players (5 who are bottom age), we came up against a really big, strong side of 10. That depth really factors in when you are playing in a Tournament, so I hope our girls are proud of what they achieved.
