Friday night June 4th was a special night as World XVIII team members John Elliott and Riyad Karacic of the Etobicoke Kangaroos A.F.C were each presented with cheques totaling CDN$1250 to help cover the cost of their flights to Australia for the upcoming World XVII tour.
Both John and Riyad have been selected by the Australian Football League (AFL) to travel to Australia on June 23rd to be part of the 30 man squad that will compete in Division 2 of the NAB Under 16 Australian championships.
On hand to present cheques to the players were: Greg Everett, Vice President of AFL Canada ($500ea), Bill Conway, President of the Etobicoke Kangaroos ($500ea) and Travis McKenzie, Director of the Ontario Australian Football League ($250ea).
AFL Canada, the OAFL and the Etobicoke Kangaroos share the excitement and experience that the boys will get from the trip and believe that financial support is a must for the future success of this great initiative.
We look forward to reading about the boys experience while they are away.
