The Swans came from 10 points down at 3/4 time to win by 10 points after Russell ROBERTSON kicked his 3 goals for the day in the last quarter - a terrific effort by Robbo against Matt RENDINA who played so well for so long. BoG by many was Tim LOOBY down the other end of the ground who kept Jason EAGLE to just the two goals that the big bloke kicked early in the 1st quarter. A really top game and well done to the Swans who have had two big last quarters in their last two games. Benalla were valiant in their loss to Mooroopna with Ricky SYMES kicking 4 of the Saints 11 goals. The Cats won by 40 points with their best players being Russell LEE and Perce ROBERTS. Echuca got the 4 points by 9 points over Mansfield up on the Murray - great to see David MENSCH back for the Eagles & kicking 3 goals and being named in the best along with Brett MAHONEY. Kristian HEIGHT and Justin DORWARD were listed as the best for the Murray Bombers. Ky. won at Deakin Reserve over the Shepparton Bears by 5 goals 3 behinds which was about what Kayne PETTIFER kicked for the Bombers. Youngster Nathan BECK and Captain Josh VICK were listed as the Bombers best while Shepp's best were Rhys O'SULLIVAN and Ed CLARKE. Seymour defeated Tatura by 35 points on the water logged Kings Park where Lion Paul COLBERT was brilliant in the conditions to kick 5 goals and clearly be the best man on the ground. Tim LITTLE and Paul COLBERT were named as the Bulldogs best. The Tigers from Rochester really spanked the poor Magpies from Euroa over at Rochy - the Tigers kicked 18.11 (119) to 3.3 (21). Tigers Coach Simon McCARTY was very pleased with his team's performance as it seems every Tiger played well whereas the Maggies had good triers but were clearly outclassed on the day. Brad CUNNINGHAM and Happy HARPER were listed as Euroa's best.
Round 8 and we are into it again with each game definately not a certainty. Mansfield at home to Mooroopna get the nod because of Mansfield's excellent performance against Echuca last week and the Eagles just know they cannot afford to lose this game, especially at home. The Eagles but not by much! Match of the Round at Kyabram who host Echuca. The tip is the Murray Bombers even though Kyabram have kicked 20 goals more than Echuca and Echuca have had 15 more goals kicked against them than Ky. Work that out as to how come the Murray Bombers get the nod. Here is the reasoning :- Brad MURRAY, Tom SHELDON, Andrew BRIGGS, Brendan RINALDI, Josh EDGAR, Axel CHILDS were not listed in Echuca's best last week so look out! Euroa at home to Shepparton - the Maggies get the nod because they are at home after a terrible spanking last week and should be hell bent on making amends - this is the game your tipster is having trouble with because the Bears certainly have some very good players and they too will be busting for a win. Tatura take on the Shepparton Swans which will be another terrific game but having seen the Swans last week against United and knowing they kicked 10 goals in the last quarter over at Rochy the week before, this is why the Swans are tipped to win. But, Paul KIRBY, Linc WELLINGTON, Tim LITTLE and Tommy DURWARD could make things tough for the Swans. Another terrific clash will be at Deakin Reserve where Shepparton United host Rochester. If United's defence can hold Elliot BOWEN all day the Demons should win, United should have learnt a thing or two in their loss last week. It will be interesting to see how Nathan GEMMILL goes against his old GVFL side from a few years ago - yout tipsters says he will go very well and will help the Demons defeat the Tigers. Benalla host Seymour and because of the Lions COLBERT brothers that is why Seymour is tipped to win.
Another interesting thing about this round is how many goals Robbo might get against the Bulldogs and how many Jason EAGLE might get against the Tigers. The three games at Ky. should be real beauties with Echuca being 2nd on the ladder in the Seniors and Ky. 3rd - in the Reserves Ky are up to top with 7 straight wins while Echuca are 3rd with just the one loss and in the Under 18's Echuca are 6th and Ky are 7th. With a forecast of a morning frost followed by a sunny day over the Goulburn Valley on Saturday we should have plenty of really good games.
