In the first game of the morning, Bondi Shamrocks forfeited the game against Sydney University as they had insufficient players to the disappointment of both clubs. However the subsequent scratch match was played with plenty of passion by both sides. The Bondi Shamrocks thanks Sydney University for loaning them the extra four players to play the scratch match which was won by Sydney University by 8 goals. For the Sydney Uni Bombers, Monica Chew, Kate Lancaster stood out whilst for the Shamrocks temporary Captain Annie-Rose Phillips, Olivia Warren and Carol Breen excelled.
In the second match it was the clash of the rookie clubs as Macquarie University Bravehearts hosted Wollongong Saints. After a quick start by the Bravehearts, Wollongong hit back with the wind in the 2nd and 4th quarters to win the match by 3 goals. Final score was Wollongong Saints 6.15.51 to Macquarie University Bravehearts 5.3.33. This was the first win by Wollongong in the SWAFL Competition. Those who stood out were for the Bravehearts were Alex Frolich, Val Chan and Belinda Harrison. For the Saints they were Hannah Strong, Yvette Heritage and Laura Russell.
In the third match and match of the round Balmain Dockers hosted the Western Wolves. One could say it was a campaign of "Shock and Awe" to quote former US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfield when he talked about the Second Gulf War. For the Balmain Dockers sent the other 8 clubs on notice, that 2010 was to be the Dockers year, completely dismantling the Wolves in a frightening display regardless of the wind direction Balmain Dockers 22.7.139 to Western Wolves 4.1.25. The Wolves were not terrible, far from it, it was that the Dockers have established a new benchmark in excellence this season through their disciplined and skilled midfield and are now the favourites to take the premiership flag. Those who were good for Wests were Cynthia Dufaut and Talei Owen. For the Dockers the outstanding were Jackie Buckthought and Rowie Morgan.
The last game was between Southern Power and Newtown. It was a bright start by the Power who kicked the first goal. However this irritated the Breakaways machine into action as their midfield led by Captain Natasha Devlin to dominate the rest of the game. The Power tried hard and played bravely but were outgunned on the day. Those who did well from the Power were Christine Coles, Jessica Purcell and Brittany Day. For the Breakaways they were Rebecca McKee, Natasha Devlin and Krystle Thompson. The final score was Breakaways 18.18.126 to Power 2.3.15
