The Crows showed on the weekend that they will be anything but easy beats this year with an inspiring 22 point victory at home over powerhouse club Southport. Amazingly the Crows made a club record 70 tackles in their win and in doing so shut down the Sharks ability to run and carry the ball.
Jo Fox was outstanding at centre half forward for the crows and was a clear best on ground with his work rate and tackling pressure of the highest standard possible. The Crows midfiield of Smith, Sugden and Langton also had a good day at the office much due to the tireless work done by big man John Dalgleigh who rucked for 95% of the game.
Jacob Rose was also outstanding when moved forward in the second half booting 5 goals for the crows with his ability to take contseted marks inside 50 amoung the best in the competition. Add to this brilliant performces by backmen Waltisbuhl, Heggrty and Neumann and the crows had winners all over the paddock.
Over the next month the crows have a tough test with 3 games on the road in a row the first being this weekend against the Redland Bombers. The Crows will be bolstered by the possible return of 2009 premiership players James Adams and Byce Bodsworth and Joel Barr is also a possible in and will give big man John Dalgleish a welcome rest in the ruck duties.
The Crows currently sit in 7th place of 12 teams on the Division 1 ladder with 2 wins and 2 losses ratio from their first 4 games which included a heartbreaking after the siren loss to Sandgate 2 weekes ago.
