Mooroopna are really cock 'a hoop at the minute with their three footy teams up the top of the ladders undefeated - early days of course but they will certainly receive a challenge from the Shepparton Swans in all three games at Mooroopna on Saturday. Last week the Cats disposed of the Seymour Lions by 21 points after being on top all day - former Tongala player & GVFL rep. player Perce ROBERTS kicked 3 and was named in the best along with Wayne PATAK, the high quality recruit from Spotswood. Seymour were again best served by the COLBERT Brothers. The Swans had their wings clipped good and proper by the Echuca Murray Bombers at the Swans home nest. The Swans were down by 33 points at 3/4 time but fought back to close the gap a little bit by the final siren. The Murray Bombers won 18.13 (121) to 14.9 (93). The Bombers were brilliantly lead by Brad MURRAY and Kristian HEIGHT, the Swans youngster Jesse FINNEN was named his team's best. Mansfield responded very well after their drubbing in Round One to knock over the Tatura Bulldogs at Tatura - the Eagles won by just over 7 goals with David MENSCH kicking 4 and being named in the best with Nick GIESCHEN. The Bulldogs were best served by Tommy DURWOOD, Tyson Di PETTA and Ben COSGRIFF. Benalla were disappointing in their loss to the Euroa Magpies - especially as the Saints really made the Bulldogs play the week before - BUT, Puta's Maggies were very committed on the Sunday and recorded a very respectable victory, 14.9 (93) to the Saints a disappointing 8.11 (59). The evergreens Craig BAMFORD and Matt MILLS each kicked 3 for the victors and it is very pleasing to see a youngster in his first year of senior footy Marcus VARLEY being named the Magpies best player. Ricky SYMES kicked 2 for Benalla following on from his 5 the week before. Perhaps if Ky. had another 5 minutes in the last quarter they may have got up to defeat Shepp United under lights at Deakin last Saturday night but it seems that Ky. left their run too late. United were up by 6 goals at half time, 4 goals 5 at 3/4 time and again outscored the Demons in the last quarter. Shepp United now have two from two with another sterling performance from Jason EAGLE who kicked 8 goals and a few points that should have been majors. Young defenders Ryan NORMINGTON and Matt RENDINA were very good for the Demons. Former Bomber coach Mark ADAMSON got a fair bit of the footy down back as did David NEWMAN. Rochester recorded an 11 goal win over Shepparton at Moon Oval so the Tigers are also 2 from 2 as is Mooroopna, United and Echuca. Perry OLIVER and Nathan WHIPP each kicked 4 - Braden LAMBERT and Nick ALLAN were listed in the Shepp. Best players list.
We are having a SPLIT round over this and next week-end. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING :- Contrary to the different draws that have been printed, it is now official that Shepparton will play Shepparton United in ALL grades of footy and netball on Saturday 24th April with the normal starting times.

The following Saturday we are having two games at normal day time starting times, Shepparton v Shepparton United at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton and Echuca v Rochester at Echuca. On the Sunday, 25th April, ANZAC DAY, the Seymour Lions are hosting Euroa with the Reserves and B Reserve netball due to start at 1pm followed by the B Grade & A Grade games and the Senior game to start at about 3pm after the ANZAC DAY service - the Under 18's & 17 & Under netball games will be played under lights after the Seniors & A Grade games.
Round 3 - Part 1 selections :- Your tipster beleives the Swans are deficient in the ruck and in defence and the fact the game is played at Mooroopna your tipster has the Cats winning by about 6 goals. Mansfield really should win and win big at home to Benalla - in the night game, Kyabram at home in familiair conditions and almost desperate for a win should account for Tatura.
Until Round 3 - Part 2 - take care on the roads, let us be able to get to the next game!
