Hi all,
Well after working my way around this great land of ours for the last couple I'm back in the region.
Lets see what's happened while I've been away. 2008 a new president, well that's a shock. I would have thought that Gerry Griffiths would have to be carted out in a box to get out of that job. The Saint's and Roo's remain the top clubs, fighting it out for the cup. The really impressive thing was the Bulldogs making the finals.
2009 the Saint's still at the top with a third straight GF appearance and second at home going down to the Swans. But while three GF's in a row for such a young club is a great achievement only 1 Cup is a poor result. And a new sponsor as well is another surprise after such a long association with the previous sponsor.
That's enough history, lets take a look at round 1 2010. This won't be easy I suspect there have been a lot of changes in my absence.
Game 1- Geez this is a hard one the Eagles out for a couple years and the Cats appear to have struggled big time. Looking at the Eagles web site they have a new logo and are getting a new guernsey to boot. Well since they are making a comeback and are at home lets go with that being the overwhelming factor, Eagles by 23 points.
Game 2- Swans v Nomads, the Swans are the reigning premiers and are at home. However the Nomads missing the finals is rare and they will regain their hungry this year for finals footy. But you can't go past a premier so the Swans will win by 13 points.
Game 3- Bulldogs v Roos, looking at the 2009 results, thanks for leaving them up, the Kennel was almost impregnable. Almost accept for 1 game and that game was against the Roos. After the going out of the finals in straight sets last year the Roos will want to avenge themselves, but lets keep the home team trend going and pick the Bullies by 9 points.
It is great to have footy back, especially local footy so until next week in the words of the great Rex Hunt yibbida yibbida thank your mother for the rabbits.
