Rangeville State School NAB AFL Auskick program has returned to elite status on the Darling Downs map, after 100 school students signed on for the NAB AFL Auskick program in term 1. It has been well over 4 years since the last Darling Downs Auskick centre has hit the magic 100 mark and the last time this figure was reached it was also Rangeville State School.
Over the eight weeks of the program, the 100 plus school students learned everything from the drop punt kick to the scoop pick up. They played a number of fun and exciting games, from the old favourite Bomb the teacher, too AFL Dodge ball and Auskick Olympics. Every participant then played a number of modified AFL games to get their skills and game plays ready for week 8, where they invited their parents along to the annual Kids verse Parents Auskick game. With 5 games going at once on the Rangeville sporting ovals, the parents were unable to get up in any of the matches and the Kids were declared the winners of the Kids verse Parents Auskick games. To finish the very successful program off at the Rangeville State School AFL Queensland held a BBQ for all participants and parents.
AFL Queensland would also like to thank NAB representative Shane Tessmer for his continued support at this NAB AFL Auskick Centre and also Ross Savill and the 10 volunteers that help run this centre and make it such a success.
Auskick will return to Rangeville State School in 2011 and hopefully will hit the 100 mark again. For further information regarding Auskick for the remainder of 2010, please visit www.aflauskick.com.au for your nearest centre.
