WHAT A FINISH!

WHAT A FINISH!

That is probably the best way to describe the finish of the 2009/10 South East Coast Basketball League Men’s regulation season.

Coming into last night’s games, it was predicted that the interest would focus on the outcome of the Cougars/ Cats clash. This game was pivotal in the final placings and went the way of Cougars 70-45. Panthers however must be pondering their season of missed opportunities after toppling League leader Panthers-Wizards. Panthers-Wizards , on the other hand, were missing players and as a result hung on to top spot by percentage only over Cougars and the fast finishing Roos-Lakers, who scored a huge win over Saints.

Bulldogs easily accounted for Roos and slipped into fourth place, two points in front of Cats, who now miss finals action after leading the competition over many rounds.

These results give promise of an exciting finals series involving Panthers-Wizards and Cougars in the second semi-final following the first Semi-final between Bulldogs and Roos-Lakers next Wednesday night at the IceHouse.

Cats in third place on the Women’s SECBL ladder, defeated Panthers in the closest Women’s game of the night. Cougars were made to work hard for their win over a relentless Saints. This final 17 point margin does not truly reflect the closeness of the game. Cougars were able to finish off better than Saints. Cougars now have the mantle of minor premier, Panthers second and Cats third. Bulldogs defeated Roos to hang on to fourth place.

Next Wednesday Cougars play Panthers in the second semi-final at the IceHouse and Bulldogs travel to Millicent to play Cats in the first semi-final.
