Day 2 – 35 Mixed – North Harbour v Wellington
Time: 5.40pm
Both teams took the field with a clear desire to win, the tempo of the game was quick from the starting hooter. 3 minutes into the game North Harbour #1 Sherie Christianson showed great ball handling skills to catch and ground a long pass, with a diving finish over the try line for Harbour's first touch down.
Wellington was quick to respond and scored a touchdown through #3 aided by a defence error with no save in place.
Wellington struck again with a touchdown to #2 following a defence player being called off side and play being called on, ball over the try line for a touchdown.
Harbour responded with 2 tries in a row to #9 and #4. Bringing the score line back to 2 – 2, even stevens.
A missed opportunity by Harbour due to handling error saw Wellington on the attack once again with a near run-away, a beautiful chase by harbour defence to save. Wellington however took the opportunity whilst down on the attacking try line to go over and score a touch down by #14 through a quickie step back. Half time score was 3 – 3. A close second half was anticipated.
North harbour were first to score off broken defence, #3 went over to score the touchdown after a good off load pass. 4 -3 to harbour.
Wellington's #1 responded with a scoop and go move, aided by the Harbour links failure to save.
#11 for North harbour had the final say of the day in the last 5 minutes of the game, a show of good communication between the North Harbour players resulted in a touchdown.
Final score 5 – 4 North Harbour taking out the match.
