On Sunday 30th August at Invermay Hall the Lexton Plains Football League & Netball Association hosted the Junior Football and Netball Vote Count and Presentation Day.
Over 200 players, parents and League Officials attended the Best and Fairest Count which provided four very deserving winners. In the Under 14 Netball Best and Fairest Lexton’s Heather Tweedle won a tense count with 2 votes in the final game giving her a one vote victory. Heather was also the leading vote getter for Lexton in the Under 17 count. Runner up to Heather was Jaime Palmer from Carngham Linton and Katelyn Driscoll from Ararat Eagles.

In the Under 14 Football it was back to back wins to Jack Peeters from Skipton. Jack took out the Under 14 Football Best and Fairest by 3 votes from Navarre’s Billy Parry. Jack polled in every round except for two and was a deserved winner. Billy also had a great season and received a Best on Ground in the last round to claim Runner Up. Both players are future stars and will do battle this weekend in the Grand Final.

The Under 17 Netball count provided a close finish with the Best and Fairest being decided in the last round. Belinda Fraser from Skipton polled 2 votes against Carngham Linton to beat Sophie Beavis from Natte Bealiba who was in striking distance before the final votes were read out. Belinda has had a great year representing the LPFLNA in the Interleague Campaign against the MCDFNL in June and was Skipton’s main player polling in the majority of her games including 8 best on court games. Sophie was a deserving runner up who is an exceptional talent and polled 6 best on court performances.

The Under 17 Football count saw Luke Preston from Illabarook claim his first League B&F with a late charge home to take the win from Carngham Linton’s Rory Nunn. Luke polled 10 votes in the final 4 rounds of the season and will be a prominent player in this week’s Under 17 Grand Final. He will take on Rory who will represent Carngham Linton this week, both players are fantastic footballers and have very bright futures ahead of them

In addition to the Best and Fairest winners the LPFLNA presented Goal kicking awards to Navarre’s Zach Chisholm who kicked an astonishing 76 goals in the Home and Away season in the Under 14 competition while Illabarook’s Ryan Jeffrey booted 59 goals in the Under 17’s to win the Goal kicking award.
