Junior Basketballers in State Squads.
Nine of Mount Gambier’s junior basketballers performed well at the 2010 SA Country Under 16 State trials over the weekend.
Three Boys, Matt Markiewicz, Matt Parslow and Jackson Trappett and six girls, Emily Stafford, Sam Loughhead, Morgan Amy, Georgia Green, Malinda Markiewicz and Brianna Walters participated in the sessions held on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Matt Markiewicz and Matt Parslow, named as a reserve last year, have been named in a 14 player Under 16 Boys squad.
All six Lakers Under 16 Girls have been selected in the 16 player squad, which will be reduced to 14 at the next training session in March.
The 2010 Under 16 National Championships will be held in Logan, Brisbane from July 3rd to 10th.
Kate Seebohm wins Gold in Basketball National Championships.
Millicent’s Kate Seebohm is a member of the SA Under 20 Women’s Basketball team which won the Championship title at Gawler last Saturday night. The victorious SA team remained undefeated for the week of the Championships and outclassed Victoria 77-50 in the Final.
