Choppers Take Two The Unknowns One

Last night saw the Choppers Premier team take the Silverware with a convincing win over the Northside Beatz. It was always going to be hard for the Beatz who were without their Tall Blacks Corey Webster and Robert Loe. The Choppers led 23-13 at the end of the first but run away with the game in the second quarter with Hayden Allen scoring 18 of his 32 points in the first half. With the scores 55-30 it was always going to be tough for the Beatz to fight back,  Calab John’s led the charge finishing the game with 23 points but the Choppers extended the led to 109-76 and claim their first premier title.

A Grade Men

The Unknowns are back to their best as they beat the Bridgetown Bombers by 14 points to claim another A Grade men’s title they lead the whole way with a shared contribution at the offensive end.  The Unknowns made their run in the third quarter they outscored the Bombers by 10 points and took a 46-30 point lead going into the fourth. AJ Perese (Bombers) lead all scorers with 24 points but didn’t have the support needed to fight a comeback, the Unknowns ran away with a 59-45 point win over the Bombers.

A Grade Women

The A Grade Women’s final was the most competitive out of the three and could have resulted in either way but the Choppers managed to claim their first title. The Barjets crusied to a first quarter 12-6 early lead led by Anna Lacey. Malu Fa’asavula help tie scores at the half with 5 of her 10 points in the 2nd going into the half 20 each. The barjets outscored the Choppers in the third going into the last quarter with a 1 point advantage with the scores 27-26.  Melisa Middleton (Barjets) lead all scorers with 16 points and tied the game at 35 points all with a clutch three with just over a minute to go but Phillipa Tehira (Choppers) wasn’t going to let her spoil the party as she scored 5 of her 9 points to help the Choppers take a 3 point win, with the final score resulting 38-35 to the Choppers .
