Storm Weekly Wrap! (Friday 12th Feb)

Storm Representative Program

Weekly Summary: Friday 12th February 2010

Welcome to our weekly wrap of the Bellarine Storm Basketball Representative Program.

Under 12 Girls

Score: Bellarine 19 defeated Altona 3 18

Top Scorers: Carly Sanders (12pts), Hayley Grasso (4pts)

MVP: Crystal McKinnon – She put in a brilliant effort for the whole game both offensively and defensively. She stole the ball and used it well. And to top it off she composed herself extremely well to get into position and shoot the winning goal

Game Report:  The game was incredibly close and it was an extremely tense ending. Both teams played very well. Our girls played great defense and stole the ball a lot, as did Altona, putting immense pressure on the ball at all times. The game was in the balance right up to the last second with Altona scoring in the last 30 seconds, to put them in front. Bellarine stole the ball and got an end ball with 3.8 seconds to go. There was a timeout called and Bellarine came back on the court and the girls ran their end line ’Storm’ play to perfection, with Skye passing a brilliant pass into Crystal for her to make the winning basket.

MVP: Team effort

Game Report:  An aggressive start saw the Tigers in foul trouble in the first 2 minutes as the Bellarine girls attacked the basket and forced the fouls.  We ran the lanes well and maintained full court pressure on the Tigers forcing them into panic passing which allowed us to score off their turnovers.  In the third we ran into foul trouble and let the Tigers within 6 points, but to the girls credit they steadied in the 4th and finished well. Congratulations to the girls as they have made VC again and it promises to be a tough season as we battle the Powerhouses; Dandenong, Bulleen, Knox, etc.
