2010 brings a new President, A new CEO and several other changes to the structure of the Western Region Football League. The League has used this change to refocus the strategic goals of the competition.
Last weekend the Board and the member clubs of the WRFL met for a three hour session to discuss the future direction of the league.
Under the guidance of independent mediator Scott Chapman and President Bill Baarini, club officials, umpire delegates, board members and WRFL staff exchanged ideas and presented thoughts on a range of topics including
· The future home of the WRFL
· The evenness of the competition
· The challenges coming from other sports
· The recruitment and retention of players, trainers, officials & volunteers
· The image of the league
· Club development and the future viability of clubs
· Sponsorship
· Grounds and facilities
This was the first step of this process and all parties will be involved in the next stage
WRFL President Bill Baarini was pleased with the participation and enthusiasm
“ Whether you are an administrator, President ,club person or community member we all want the same thing- the best suburban football competition- We identified a lot of areas where time and effort are needed and we will use this as a platform to really shape a plan that will deliver on what everyone wants. The lines of communication are open at all times for everyone to get involved. I encourage everyone to have a say and get involved”.
