Pioneers to host South Adelaide this weekend

The Mount Gambier Pioneers are set to host their second round of practice games this weekend against the South Adelaide Panthers ABL team. After a solid hit out against the Adelaide 36ers Development squad last month the Pioneers are looking to further their pre-season preparations in these two games.

“After our last 2 games we got a better idea of how much work we needed to do in the coming weeks before the SEABL season starts. We have started to address these issues in practice and hopefully we will see the results in our performance this weekend” said Pioneers coach Andrew Summerville.

“Right now it’s not about winning these games, it’s about using them as a chance to run our stuff, gel as a group and find the right rotations on the court. Obviously everyone wants to win and if the game is there to be won we will go for it, but these games count for nothing right now so we have to remember it’s about working on our structures. We are a work in progress so we can’t expect to be perfect overnight” Summerville added.

The Panthers are coached by former Pioneers players Jason Bayliss and club legend and life member Jason Joynes. Tip off is at 7pm Saturday night and 1pm Sunday afternoon at the Icehouse. Entry is a gold coin donation.
