Life Member Neville Miller. - 2009
Neville’s involvement with football began in the early 80’s with the Mt Compass Club where he played for several years – While doing this he became involved with the Junior side of football first by organising the Mt Compass Mini Colts, then becoming involved with the GSFL in organising and running the carnival from 1984 until 2002.
He not only was involved with the Juniors but gave away playing to take up Goal umpiring – he umpired 2 Senior Colt Grand Finals in 89 and 91 then the Reserves in 92 and 93 then 4 consecutive A Grade Grand Finals in 94 through to 97. He then took on the easier job of broadcasting a match each week on the local FM station 90.1 for the next 12 years.
He co-ordinated the Junior Colts grade on behalf of the League from 1991 to the present day and was very much involved with organisation of the Under 15 Association sides during that time. During his time the GSFL under 15’s has won all 14 matches played against the River Murray League.
He joined the GSFL as an Executive Member in 1996 to 2007 then moved to the position of Vice president of the League and Chairman of the Junior Committee in 2008 and 2009.
He has also served as a Board Member of the Umpires Panel for a period of 5 years.
Neville has also served as a Tribunal Member for the last 9 years.
Neville has given great service to the Great Southern League over the last over the last 26 years and thoroughly deserves Life Membership of the Great Southern League.
