We were lucky enough to have three guest speakers take some time out of their busy schedules to help guide the next generation of athletes.
Jessica Karlsson, a leading body sculpture competitor in the area, talked about what to eat and when so as to allow the body to perform at it's best.
Samantha Wells, from Harwood Chiropractics, gave the attendees an overview on their bone structure, how to care for it and how to see signs that things need to be corrected for best performance. Samantha has played high level softball and has done a study on AFL footballers so is no stranger to the demands of reaching the next level.
Jacob Walmsley, from Bayside Physiotherapy, discussed the main injuries in AFL footballers and the importance of core strength in all athletes. Jacob plays rugby union but was also a taekwondo heavyweight champion, so understands the demands and the need for flexibility and recovery from exercise.
We thank them, and the businesses they represent, for their time and the very informative way that they addressed the group and made everyone there a little smarter about their body. We encourage you to support the businesses that support our budding AFL stars
All things to do with summer training will be placed under the DEVELOPMENT banner on this website including the schedule, new information and any changes to this year's schedule. Stay tuned!!
