Congratulations to the following G.V.F.U.A. umpires who have been appointed to officiate in the Grand Finals this Sunday. The 3rds, (Under 18's) is to commence at 9:15am and not at 9:30am as reported in the Shepparton NEWS. The appointments are as follows :-
Under 18's - Kyabram v Echuca - 9:15am start - Central's :- David COLBOURNE and Rob McKAY with Brett HANCOCK the emergency. Goals :- Paul NOWLAND and Peter STEIN with Tony HAJRO (E). Boundaries :- Xavier GRAHAM with Troy SURKITT with Jack HAJRO (E).
Reserves - Seymour v Tatura - 11:30am start - Central's :- Gerard MONTGOMERY and Cruz O'SHEA with Peter CORDY (E). Goals :- Barry PURTELL and Greg PERA with Howard PHILLIPS (E). Boundaries :- Ben MASKELL with Ayden GRAHAM with Hayden SMITH (E).
Seniors - Kyabram v Mansfield - 2:30pm start - Centrals :- Andrew MOORE, age 23 years who is a Music Teacher by profession. Andrew commenced umpiring in 2001 so despite his tender years he has good experience and has umpired a Senior Picola and District F.L. Grand Final. Andrew was accidently cannoned into in the Qualifying final at Deakin a few weeks ago and despite being shaken up he continued doing a very good job officiating between Rochester and Mansfield. Andrew's partner is 43 year old Darren MEEK who is the Purchasing and Warranty Supervisor with the Dyson's Bus Company who are based in Bundoora but get up our way assisting V/Line. Darren has previously umpired two G.V.F.L. Grand Finals and two Picola and District F.L. Grand Finals after commencing his umpiring career in 2003. Congratulations to Andrew and Darren. The Emergency Central Unpire is the very experienced Ian GOLDRICK. The Goal umpire's are :- 38 year old James McDONALD who is in his 3rd year of waving the flags having commenced umpiring in 1993 - James is from Violet Town where he is the Director of Nursing at the Violet Town Nursing Hospital. James' partner is 50 year old Don OLIVER who like James also commenced his umpiring career in 1993. Don has waved the calico's in 9 previous Senior G.V.F.L. Grand Finals and two Murray League Senior Grand Finals. This will be Don's 10th occasion as a Goalie in a Senior GVFL Grand Final - not a bad record Don - Well Done. Don is the Payroll Manager for SPC-Ardmona based in Shepparton. The Emergency Goal Umpire is John CAIAFA. The boundary umpires are 16 year old Year 11 student Ben McCONNELL who attends the Mooroopna Secondary College who has been running the boundary since he was a 10 year old. Ben has previously umpired in two GVFL and two K.D.F.L. Grand Finals. Ben's partner is 15 year old Shaun GERAGHTY who is also in Year 11 but at the McGuire College in Shepparton. Shaun commenced umpiring in 2004 and has previously ran the boundary in one GVFL Grand Final, a Murray F.L. Grand Final and in two Kyabram and District Football League Grand Finals. The emergency boundary ummpire is Luke O'SULLIVAN.
