Last year they Seymour Lions Reseves won the Premiership flag with a 7 point win over the Echuca Murray Bombers - Seymour won 8.18 (66) to Tatura 8.11 (59). At the conclusion of the 2009 Home & Away season the top three on the Ladder were Rochester with 15 wins, 2 losses and a draw, then both with 14 wins, 4 losses were Seymour and Tatura. Seymour finished in 2nd possie by having a better % than Tatura by kicking about 24 more goals than the Bulldogs. The points Against was much the same - Seymour had 837 kicked against them, Tat just 2 less with 835. Rochester were bowled out in straight sets (Not bad that; cricket and tennis in a football story!) Seymour defeated Rochy 19.10 (124) to 7.11 (53) in the Qualifying final and Shepparton finished the Tigers off in the First Semi final. Seymour defeated Tatura by 67 points in the 2nd Semi Final at Mooroopna nearly two weeks ago to advance into the Grand Final. That score was :- Seymour 17.16 (118) to Tatura 7.9 (51). Seymour's goal-kickers were :- Xavier McMAHON (4), Ryan KLIEMT and Paul ELLIS (2) and singles to Nicholas LANE, Mitchell ELLIS, Cael McCARTHY, Leigh IRVING, Jarrod PINK, Brett O'DONNELL, Grant HATELEY and Damien INNESS. The Lions best 6 were listed as being :- Ryan KLIEMT, Grant HATELEY, Xavier McMAHON, Damien INNESS, Paul ELLIS and Joal BROOKS. Tatura's goals were kicked by :- Shaun RENNIE and Stephen KIRBY with 2 each, Anrdew CRAWFORD, John DAVISON and Anthony POPPA with 1 each. Tat's better players were :- Luke McPHIIAMY, James LONDRIGAN, Dylan McWHINNEY, Francis CALDOW, Jacob CHESSELLS and Josh HARRIS. Seymour won the first 2009 encounter in Round 5 by two goals, 12.11 (83) to Tatura's 11.5 (71) - that game was at Tatura when it was the Breast Cancer Awareness round of footy when the Seniors played with the slippery pink footy. In the return game down at Seymour in Round 16 on 15th of August the Bulldogs won by 13 points, 9.9 (63) to 7.8 (50). The Lions best 6 were listed as :- Joe AMAD, Paul ELLIS, Mitchell ELLIS, Brett O'DONNELL, Travis MUIR and Cael McCARTHY. Seymour have had a week off whereas Tatura are a bit similair to the Echuca 3'ds who have played each week of the finals. Tatura defeated Mooroopna over at Tatura in an Elimination Final at Euroa but only by 7 points, then had their pants pulled down in the Second Semi against Seymour losing by that 68 point margin but really bounced back well last Sunday at Deakin to defeat Shepparton in the Preliminiary Final. That score was 12.7 (89) to Shepparton 9.9 (63) - Adam MacGIBBON and Anthony BORRELLI both kicked 3, the single goal kickers were :- Reece POLLARD, Stephen KIRBY, Shaun RENNIE, Martin LEAHY, Josh GLEDHILL and Josh STAMMERS. The Bulldogs better players were :- John DAVISON, Josh GLEDHILL, Adam MacGIBBON, Luke McPHILLAMY, Jonathon BARNETT and Josh STAMMERS.
So; one win each during the Home and Away season, but Seymour defeated Tat. by 68 points in the Second Semi - Seymour have had the spell whereas Tat. have played each week, recording a 7 point win over Mooroopna, the bad loss to the Lions and then the 16 point win last week over Shepparton in the Prelim. to have another crack at the Lions. The Tipster believes the scales tilt towards the Lions because of the Second Semi win by the 11 goals and the fact that quite a few of the Seymour boys have finals (Grand Final) experience.
