With the sky clearing up and the sun coming out, it became a great day for some fantastic football. Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers won the first ball out of the centre, however, Ouyen United used the ball well and pushed out in front. With Wayne Grace winning it off the wing and Danny O’Bree slotting 4 goals for the quarter, the Demons were off to a great start. At the end of the first quarter, the Demons 5 goals and 8 points to the Tigers 4 goals and 2 points.
The second quarter was strong by Sea lake Nandaly Tigers. They had Col Durie and Scott Weekley moving the ball well down the ground and with the goal scoring end, they booted 4 goals and 6 points to Ouyen United 2 goals and 2 points.
It was hard fought in the third quarter. The play became congested and both teams found it hard to pull away from the other. The Tigers’ Mark Roberts was aggressive winning the ball at every contest but with Andrew Jardine shutting down the Tigers’ goal kicker, the Demons certainly weren’t out of it. By the end of the third quarter, Ouyen United closed the gap to make it 3 points the difference.
The last quarter saw the Tigers give it everything they had left. As the Demons ran out of puff, the Tigers ran away with the game. Their forward line was strong with Bill Barry and Troy Ferrier booting goals from every angle. They kicked 6 goals and 8 points to the Demons 2 goals and 2 points.
The final score was Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers 19 goals and 19 points defeated Ouyen United 14 goals and 16 points. Mark Roberts was award best on ground with his excellent performance for the Tigers. The Tigers’ Bill Barry was outstanding booting 5 goals. Col Durie and Darcy Ryan provided lots of run in the mid-field. Danny O’Bree was admirable kicking 8 goals for the Demons. Corey O’Callaghan and Corey Gregg tried hard all match.
