Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers Vs Ouyen United in the Speed Field Days Mallee Football League Grand Final.
Ouyen United defeated Walpeup/Underbool in trying conditions at Hopetoun last Saturday and earned the right to play the Tigers in this week’s Grand Final at Woomelang.
Having to finish into the strong five goal wind in the last quarter with only a 1 goal lead, the Demons found another gear and came home strongly while the Roos ram out of puff. Pete Caldow and Josh Gregg are in terrific form for Ouyen United as are the Jardine boys and they were boosted by the return of Danny O’Bree.
The Tigers have had the weeks rest and will have freshened up after a solid finish to the home and away season. Scott Weekley, Col Durie and Darcy Ryan have been in tremendous form all year and with the Tigers back half suppressing scoring options. The Demons will need Jake Anstey and Danny O’Shannessy firing in front of goal. The Demons backline have been solid all year with Jarred Munro and Andrew Jardine taking key forwards and with Adam O’Callaghan shutting down danger forwards, the contests with Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers forwards look to be a ripper. Nathan Wight and Ryan Parkinson have had excellent seasons and Troy Ferrier is ever dangerous so we should see some great contests.
These two sides have met three times this year with the Tigers winning all of them, however, as the Demons have shown this final series, they are a very capable side. Footy fans will be treated to another exciting game to finish off the season this Saturday at Woomelang.
